Four-Star DE Ronnie Perkins Breaks Down Texas Offer and His Game

Four-Star standout defensive end Ronnie Perkins checks in from St. Louis (MO) Lutheran High School North. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound Perkins holds numerous offers including one from the Texas Longhorns.

Four-Star defensive end prospect Ronnie Perkins is enjoying the recruiting process.

“The recruiting process has been great so far,” Ronnie Perkins said. “I appreciate every school that has offered me a scholarship.”

Perkins admits one of the low points of recruiting is not being able to visit every school that has extended him a verbal offer.

“I was excited when I got the Texas Longhorns offer knowing their tradition and all of the opportunities in Austin,” Perkins said.  “I speak with Coach Giles, and I've spoken with coach Herman. I'd say Oklahoma and Texas I hear from both schools every day and it shows me how bad they want me.  The strengths of my game are my athleticism and my versatility.  I can play any position on the defensive line, and I plan to visit Oklahoma, Texas, LSU and Georgia.” Take

This guy is an impressively explosive defender who has a very quick get off the line and the ability to dominate the high school level of competition. He has a strong and compact frame, and he seems very strong at the point of attack. He slides around the defensive front showcasing is versatility on his highlight tape. He can play the run, and he can rush the passer. As we pointed out, Perkins is very good at the point of attack. He can take on the block, shed, and make the play down the line of scrimmage or behind it. Off the edge as a rusher, he moves pretty well for his size. He has an elite offer list with P5 offers coming in from all the major conferences. - Greg Powers
