Four-Star Signal Caller Cameron Rising Says Yes to Texas Joins Longhorn Nation

Four-Star signal caller Cameron Rising moments ago switched his verbal commitment from the Oklahoma Sooners to arch-rival Texas Longhorns.

The verbal commitment of Cameron Rising to the Texas Longhorns will catch many off guard.  What many don’t know is Rising visited Texas twice in the last week.  The Four-star is from Newbury Park (CA) Newbury Park High School and is the No 144 ranked overall player in the class of 2018 according to Scout.com.  The key is the connection between Tom Herman and the Rising family.  Herman is from Ventura County and played at Cal Lutheran where Mr. Rising played, and he knows Coach Herman.  Mr. Rising knows Herman will take care of his son.  The Rising family left the door open, and it was only a matter of time.  Rising plans to graduate in December.  The Texas/Oklahoma rivalry just became a little more interesting.

My Take

Texas now holds verbal commitments from the No 13 ranked quarterback in the country with Casey Thompson and Cameron Rising at No 14 for the class of 2018.  Rising is the fourth verbal commitment for head coach Tom Herman and the rest of the Texas Longhorns coaching staff.  He is also the fourth four-star prospect to make his verbal announcement for the University of Texas.  Longhorn fans should expect a full class on National Signing Day.
