“It was great to be back home,” Jordan Pouncey said. “I love it here. I flew out by myself. We had a bunch of paperwork to do in the morning but when that was over it was all fun. I was talking to Coach Mehringer, and he expects me to report in six weeks and be ready to compete for a starting spot.”
Pouncey is excited to join the Texas Longhorns program for more than one reason.
“A lot of stuff is still under construction, but as far as what Coach Herman has going on I am so excited to be a part of it because it’s going to be special,” Pouncey said. “You can almost smell it in the air. Favorite part was hearing the band play The Eyes of Texas and Texas Fight.”
Pouncey's length and physical makeup for the wide receiver position are obvious, but he also displays nice acceleration and burst once reeling in the catch and getting his pads north and south. Pouncey is also a mismatch problem with his ability to stretch and get behind defenses, but running crisper routes is something he can continue to season up moving forward. You also have to take notice of Pouncey's ability to track the football through the air while maintaining body control, so it's easy to understand why schools are itching to get their hands on the pass catcher. Great frame and running ability for a 6-foot-3 receiver.
