At 6-foot-1, 195-pounds, safety prospect Caden Sterns from Cibolo (Texas) Steele is one of the top overall prospects in America for 2018. The four-star standout was the first verbal commitment for head coach Ed Orgeron and the LSU Tigers for the 2018 cycle on November 27th, 2016. The No 52 overall ranked player in the class of 2018 has made the switch to the Texas Longhorns as he informed both LSU and Texas of the decision moments ago. Sterns spoke with Coach Herman, Washington and Naivar.
"It's a huge blessing sir to start off," Caden Sterns said. "Can't thank God enough for this whole process, it was a hard decision, but after much thought and prayer, it was clear to me. It means a lot to stay home and represent Texas. Hopefully, help get Texas back to being dominate like I grew up watching them. So many memories I have with my family with Texas like when they won the National Championship in 2005. I want to be a part of that. It means a lot and to stay home for my family and my mom is great. They deserve that and to be a part of my journey. The way Texas made me a priority meant a lot to me. I am excited because I made the right choice and had to do what's best for my family and me. And put myself in the best place to be successful. Again, growing up in Texas, and watching Texas all my life, I wanted to be a part of the Longhorn family, and it's a huge blessing. The message I want to send to them (Texas coaches & fans) is thank you for the opportunity and the chance. I'm going to give everything I got for the University of Texas and the state of Texas. Also, a leader who will try to make everyone around me successful. They can expect a small town kid with big dreams looking to do anything to make them come true. Expect a humble kid who wants to make his momma proud, and give her everything she wants. The fans can expect for this Texas program to be back on top and become what they once were starting with the great coaching, great players and great fans. #HookEm."
Caden Sterns is one of the most humble and gracious high school football players you will ever meet. He is a fantastic football player but an even better person off the field. This commitment is a huge addition to the Longhorn Nation for Tom Herman and the Texas family.

Sterns older brother' -- Jordan Sterns -- was a high-level college recruit who no plays at Oklahoma State, so the family pedigree is strong. Caden is just beginning to fill out a frame that will easily hold around 200 pounds. He is a prospect who could play receiver or safety on the next level and be very good at both. On offense, he is a natural play maker with above average attributes in all areas. On defense, he is an aggressive and bold defender who will make receivers fear catching the ball in his area of coverage. He can run and covers ground quickly. His skills as a receiver make him a threat to make a big play for the defense in 50-50 scenarios. - Greg Powers
