Texas At No. 6 In Both Polls

Texas jumped a spot to No. 6 in both major college football Top 25 polls released Sunday.

The Associated Press (sports writers and broadcasters) Poll and ESPN/USA-Today (coaches) Poll concur in their Top 6 rankings. Oklahoma remains the unanimous choice as NCAA football’s top squad followed by USC, LSU, Michigan and Georgia.

Both the Big 12 and SEC conferences have placed a NCAA-best five teams in this week’s rankings. Joining Texas and OU are Big 12 brethren Kansas State (No. 14 AP/No. 15 Coaches), Oklahoma State (No. 23 AP/No. 24 Coaches) and Nebraska (No. 24 Coaches/No. 25 AP).

All that stands between Texas and a probable Fiesta Bowl berth is a win over the 4-7 Aggies at Kyle Field Friday (2:30 p.m. CST, ABC-Sports) and an Oklahoma win over Kansas State in the Big 12 Championship Game.

Following an off-weekend, the Horns return to practice Monday.
