Hoops: Little Poll Movement Following 1-1 Week

After winning on the road at Missouri and falling at home to Oklahoma State, UT's poll position remained fairly steady Monday, with a drop from No. 14 to No. 18 in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches poll and a holding-steady No. 16 in the AP poll. The Cowboys (14-2, 4-1) moved up to No. 19/18, while the Horns' Big Monday opponent Tech, 16-2 overall, 4-0 in the Big 12, and riding a 12-game win streak into tonight's contest in Lubbock, came in at No. 14/13.

Duke (16-1) remained at the top of both polls, with the country's two remaining unbeatens -- 16-0 Stanford and 17-0 Saint Joseph's -- holding the Nos. 2 and 3 spots, followed by Louisville and Kentucky. Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Connecticut, Arizona and Gonzaga round out the coaches' top 10 while the AP sees it Connecticut, Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, Arizona and Gonzaga.

Kansas (12-3, 4-0) is the highest-rated league team in the coaches' poll at No. 12 but is two places behind the No. 13 Red Raiders in the writers' tally. Oklahoma (11-4, 1-3) is the only other Big 12 team receiving mention with its No. 25 ranking in both polls.

ESPN.com's weekly Bracketology has Texas projected as a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tourney, down from last week's No. 4 projection. Other Big 12 teams and their projections: Kansas (down a spot to a No. 4); Texas Tech (up a spot to a No. 4); Oklahoma State (rocketing up to a No. 5 after being down at No. 9 last week); and Oklahoma (down a spot -- and almost out -- to a No. 11).

Despite the loss to the Cowboys, Texas (12-3, 3-1) continued its simulated RPI climb, moving from No. 25 last week to No. 22 this week, with the chance for a huge RPI/seeding win tonight vs. RPI No. 13 Texas Tech. The Raiders lead all Big 12 schools, besting Kansas (18) and Okie State (25). Missouri is the next league team, way down at No. 50.
