Junior Report: Southlake Carroll QB Chase Daniel

Southlake Carroll QB Chase Daniel is a prospect to keep an eye on. With his ability to run and pass, he could be a hot commodity, especially for offensive coordinators who have their signal-caller's operating from the 'gun.

Daniel threw for 42 TDs while completing almost 67-percent of his passes and rushed for another 18 scores in '03 as Carroll fell just short of a second consecutive state title last December.

"He's a great blend of passer and runner and he's very intelligent," Carroll head coach Todd Dodge said. "He's also a tremendous competitor and he has a great leadership style. He's just a great athlete with speed, power and accuracy, plus he has a good swagger to him."

The 6-1, 200-pounder projects as a QB first and then at several other positions such as wideout, fullback, safety and linebacker. "I want to play quarterback," Chase Daniel said. "That's the position I want to play in college. If that did not work out, most coaches are telling me I have the speed to play safety. But I'm a QB." Schools shooting the Carroll athlete the most mail at this point?

"A&M, Texas, Missouri, K-State, A&M, Boston College," Daniel said.

Early Top Seven: "Missouri, Texas, K-State, A&M, Boston College, LSU, OU."

Daniel has already attended junior days at KSU and UT and was also scheduled to attend A&M's late January session.
