Junior Update: Chris Collins Talks UT Junior Day

Texas High standout Chris Collins was on the road back to Texarkana with his father when we caught up. About 5 hours away, he shared a few things.

He's not yet committed at this point. And at the insistence of the Texas coaching staff will offer his verbal pledge when he feels fully ready to do so...

It wasn't so much that Collins was not ready to make the verbal commitment today as much as it was more about the highly regarded defender choosing to hold off. For the simple reason that he doesn't "have to be in a hurry" per the Longhorn coaching staff's comments.

"They told me to take my time," said the 6-0/6-1, 230-pound MLB prospect.

"The way they didn't pressure me made me feel even better about them. Made me like them even more than I already did. Just made me feel really comfortable about them."

So while it wouldn't be that surprising to see Collins end the suspense sooner than later, he has not yet decided to do that, at least at this point.
