Recruiting: Spring Game Attendee R.J. Jackson

Houston Westside tailback R.J. Jackson not only made the drive to Austin for the Texas Spring Game, he also double-timed it back to Houston for the Houston MSL/TheInsiders Combine.

R.J. Jackson came in to the Combine sporting a very impressive physique. He measured just above 5-11 while weighing in a very durable and solid 197 pounds.

"I'm trying to get up to 205," Jackson said as he anticipates taking bigger hits on the next level.

While Jackson also looked impressive in the muscle/skeletal, his HRT results (NFL aptitude/psyche test, which each Combine attendee took) are not yet known.

As for the NFL-like combine drills and testing, Jackson skipped that portion due to a tweaked hamstring...

So how 'bout that visit to the Forty Acres?

"Texas has a real nice atmosphere," the Westside tailback said. "It was real electric!"

According to the Bayou City baller, the recruits got to sit on the side of the field "where the players walk out onto the field" and it gave him "a feeling like no other."

No scholarship offer talk as of yet, but Texas recruiting coordinator/running backs coach Mike Haywood did tip the Horns' hands with regard to the running back/fullback numbers for 2005...

"Coach Haywood said they'd like to have two running backs and one fullback," Jackson said.

Could the 5-11, 197-pounder score one?

"Coach Haywood said I have a really good chance for one."
