Recruiting: Spring Game Attendee Colt McCoy

When you go a couple of seasons without inking a quarterback, "need" takes on an all-new meaning. After two QB-less classes, the Longhorns have already offered three signal callers this recruiting season, hoping to sign two. Jim Ned QB Colt McCoy collected one of those offers and we caught up with him to grab an update on what he thought about the Texas Spring Game, a list of his official offers and his commitment-time frame…

Asked what he thought about the Orange/White Game, Colt McCoy said, "It was pretty fun. I didn't get there till halfway through the game though. But I got to see a lot of the guys they've been recruiting."

The Texas Hot 100 selection said he's chums with Texas OC Greg Davis and didn't talk about much other than just "odds and ends."

"We have a good friendship," he added.

Like Pflugerville signal caller Todd Walker, McCoy also would like to commit "definitely before my senior season."

With offers from Texas, Texas A&M and (just recently) Kansas State, we grabbed a couple lines from McCoy on those three schools...

Dean: Texas...

McCoy: I really like the university. I really like the coaches. And if you want to go to the premier college in Texas, that's the place to go.

Dean: A&M?

McCoy: Think they're the same as Texas. I really like their atmosphere and their coaches. You can't go wrong with either Texas or Texas A&M.

Dean: K-State...

McCoy: I don't know much about them. I'm sure they have a great university. They play in the Big 12 and they're always one of the best teams in the Big 12.

Others potentially in the hunt are "Oklahoma, Georgia, Florida and Florida State."

"They've been talking to me a lot lately," said McCoy when asked about the interest the Sooners were showing.
