Hoops: Further test on Williams reveals torn ACL

Additional tests performed on University of Texas senior guard Fredie Williams revealed a partial tear of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee in addition to a sprained MCL in the same knee, athletic trainer Brian Farr announced Thursday evening.

Williams sustained the injury during the second half of Texas' 91-73 exhibition victory vs. EA Sports All-Stars on Tuesday night at the Erwin Center.

"We expect it will take at least six weeks for Fredie to recover from the MCL sprain," Farr said. "Our plans are to monitor his knee during this time. He will go through a rehabiliation program which will address both the MCL and ACL injuries in an effort for Fredie to return to activity."
