Update: Tanner committed to Texas this afternoon with an announcement at Anderson. IT photogragher Will Gallagher was at Anderson this afternoon and we'll have photos later. Until then, here's the info on Tanner:

HS measurements per Anderson HC Trent Gregory:
HT -- 6-4
WT -- 268
40 -- 4.94
20 (shuttle) -- 3.97
Pancakes -- 60+

WT -- 268
40 -- 5.03
20 (shuttle) -- 4.12

After looking at those numbers, you understand why Tanner received quite a bit of interest from several D-I schools...

"He's the complete package," said Coach Gregory, "Strong, powerful, very athletic. He's smart, very intelligent, just understands the game of football. He's also a great kid and comes from a very solid family. Nothing but good things to say..."

According to Gregory, Tanner received official offers from "New Mexico, SMU, Vanderbilt, UTEP and Kansas."

Others who showed interest included North Texas (which recently made an on-campus visit) and Northwestern (which recently called the school)...

Tanner plays offensive tackle in high school but projects more as a guard prospect on the D-I level...

Honors/Accolades: Honorable mention All-Centex , unanimous 1st-team all-district OL, honorable mention all-district DL, academic all-district, Anderson HS Co-Offensive Player of the Year, Austin American Statesman Best of the Best Area OL as a sophomore and junior, Dave Campbell's 2003 Top Underclassmen, HS team- captain as a junior...

Kid also lettered in two sports (football and wrestling). Speaking of his wrestling accomplishments, Tanner advanced past the district and regional rounds, making it to the state quarterfinals where he competed in the 275-pound weight class.
