The other consensus members of the top 10 are East Carolina, LSU, Florida, and Long Beach State. Idle Texas A&M (35-14) remained the highest ranked Big 12 team aside from Texas in the coaches' poll (unchanged at No. 9) and in Baseball America (No. 14) despite being unranked in Collegiate Baseball, where Oklahoma State (No. 22) and Oklahoma (No. 23) are the league's only ranked teams. The 31-16 Cowboys are No. 22 while the 31-18 Sooners check in at No. 18 in the Baseball America rankings. Both squads are unranked in the coaches' poll.
OSU's Monday loss to Nebraska in Stillwater puts the Cowboys (14-6) behind both UT (17-6) and OU (17-7) in the league standings. Texas Tech (12-8), which lost two-of-three over the weekend to suddenly stout Missouri, is in fourth, a game up on fifth place Texas A&M (11-9). Baylor (10-9) is sixth, followed by Nebraska (10-11), Mizzou (8-12), Kansas State (3-18) and Kansas (2-18).
While the league's top two team -- Texas and Oklahoma -- take the weekend off from conference play, Oklahoma State hosts Tech, the Huskers travel to Waco to take on the Bears, the Wildcats visit the Ags, and the Jayhawks take on the Tigers in Lawrence.
The regular season's final weekend is shaping up to be a battle for first between Texas, Oklahoma and, depending on results from this weekend, possibly Okie State. The Horns host A&M on Friday, May 21 before trippin' to College State for Saturday and Sunday contests. The Sooners are on the road at struggling Nebraska and the Cowboys are at Missouri.
Texas hosts North Carolina State in a doubleheader this Saturday at the Disch.
