Horns Land Texarkana LB/DE Christopher Brown

UT adds Texarkana Texas LB/DE Christopher Brown to the 2005 Longhorn recruiting class. We caught up with Brown's head coach Barry Norton to grab the details regarding the events that led to his star defender's choice to end the suspense early, where the Texas coaches project him at and more...

"Coach (Duane) Akina recruits this area and he really liked Christopher," Norton explained. "Coach (Greg) Robinson then came up to see him and he really liked him too. I imagine he told Mack Brown that he was someone he needed to see and that they had to have him."

Asked where the Texas coaches want the 6-2.5/6-3, 210/215-pounder, Norton said, "I think they like him as a linebacker."

Texarkana will play him more at linebacker this year but will still utilize his energy and ability to get to the passer at defensive end also.

"He plays as hard anybody you've ever seen," said Norton on his LB/DE's strengths. "His motor is always running."

Areas to improve: "Probably in the technique department. With him playing defensive end and now linebacker, he's got some things to work on fundamentally. But the sky is the limit for him in what he could become."
