CWS: It's Horns vs. Hogs In Omaha

UT's road to a sixth national title will continue to run through SEC roadblocks. After dispatching of Vanderbilt in convincing fashion in the Super Regional round, the national No. 1 seed Horns (55-13) open in Omaha vs. national No. 8 seed Arkansas (45-22).

SEC regular season champ Georgia (43-21) is also in UT's four-team, double-elimination bracket after sweeping national No. 4 seed Georgia Tech in Atlanta and will face Arizona (35-25-1), which beat Long Beach State in the Supers after the Dirtbags knocked out national No. 5 seed Stanford in the Palo Alto Regional.

The SEC is well-represented on the other side of the bracket as well, with national No. 2 seed South Carolina (50-15), the league's tourney champ, and LSU (46-17) advancing to Omaha with two-game sweeps as hosts in their respective Super Regionals. The Gamecocks, who Texas defeated in the '02 championship game, open in Omaha with Fullerton (42-21). The Tigers, who bested in two games the Big 12's only other Super Regional qualifier Texas A&M, get national No. 3 seed Miami (49-11) in their CWS opener.

The College World Series begins with four opening round games, two on Friday, June 18 and two on Saturday, June 19 at Rosenblatt. The day and time of the match-ups will be announced by the NCAA Monday.

Texas last faced Arkansas in Omaha back in 1987 when the Horns spanked the then-Southwest Conference member Hogs 13-6 in an opening round game. Texas also won an 8-7, 10-inning contest in 1985 at Rosenblatt after suffering a 9-4 setback in 1979 in the two team's first Omaha match-up. UT owns a 71-31 mark all-time vs. the Pigs. The Horns have not faced Arkansas since the final regular season series of the 1991 season, the Hogs' last in the SWC.
