Recruiting: Henry Melton Update

One of the more interesting prospects in the Lone Star State, especially regarding size/speed package, is Grapevine jumbo athlete Henry Melton. We caught up with him to grab a quick update on which teams have been the most diligent with regard to recruiting him for his potential commitment, what position those teams are recruiting him for and who leads at this point in the process...

"I'd have to say Texas A&M and Texas," Henry Melton said. "Probably those two."

As for what positions those two Big 12 South teams want him at, the 6-3, 255-pounder (with 4.65 wheels) said, "A&M is recruiting me as a running back and I don't know what position Texas wants me at."

Speaking of what position he'll play, Melton said Grapevine will opt to use the 3-4 as their base defense this year and that in addition to garnering carries from the tailback position, he'll play outside linebacker or rush end in his final season...

According to Melton, the Ags have cornerbacks coach Chris Thurmond working the Lone Star State's No. 12 while the Horns are using Mack Brown.

So has their been a change in who leads for his verbal?

"A&M is still the slight leader," Melton said.

Dean: Thoughts on the Maroon and White?

Melton: I talk to them all the time, I've been down there a bunch and I just love it down there.

Dean: And the Burnt Orange...

Melton: They've just sent me a bunch of letters and have been recruiting me hard. I've been down there before and I've worked out with Brandon Foster, so I know someone there."
