Recruiting: Roy Miller Update

Killeen Shoemaker DT Roy Miller committed to the Oklahoma Sooners in the month of June but Big 12 South rival Texas continued to show interest. In an update prior to this one, the 6-2, 295-pounder said he thought he did enough research to call himself firm to the Sooners. After that, of course, Miller then tripped to both Austin and Norman for games. We recently caught up with him again to grab another update.

Dean: Thoughts on your unofficial visit to the Forty Acres?

Roy Miller: I liked it a lot. Just watchin' the players and coaches during the (North Texas) game was fun. Texas has a good defensive team, great coaches and a good game day atmosphere. Everyone was nice up there. I got a chance to meet with all of the coaches and they were real nice and so were the players.

Dean: Thoughts on your unofficial visit to Norman?

Miller: I loved it. They've got a good team, great coaches -- just real cool. Just like at UT, the players were real cool, not big headed or anything like that. And the atmosphere is incredible at Oklahoma. I feel so much better about OU after going back up there and then seeing the (Houston) game. I felt like I was at home up there and just got that really special feeling. That I made the right decision.

Dean: So, any additional unofficial or official visits?

Miller: Not to Texas. You see how much attention that brings. I'll probably take another unofficial to Norman. And then I might take an official visit to Oklahoma and maybe one also out to Utah -- I have cousin up there -- but that's about it. I don't plan on going anywhere else.

High School Notes: In his first two games, Miller -- a 4-star DT -- recorded 22 tackles, 10 TFLs, 1 sack, 12 hurries, 6 explosive hits, 4 FFs, returning one of those for a 45-yard TD.
