Recruiting: Martellus Bennett Talks Texas-OU

After an early verbal pledge to Miami, Alief Taylor TE Martellus Bennett recently opened himself back up and a couple of teams he has high on his list (Oklahoma and Texas) recently played in the Red River Shootout. We caught up with the Texas Hot 100 No. 4th-ranked prospect to get his thoughts on the game...

"It was a good game with really good defensive play by both teams," Martellus Bennett said.

Does OU gain any advantage on Texas with the victory?

"No, not really. I'm still looking at them the same and along with everyone else. I'm still very high on Texas. The outcome of the game doesn't move me one way or the other."

Asked if he felt he could have made a difference for one of the teams in the Big 12 South showdown, Bennett said, "I saw the OU tight end tip the ball that (Michael) Huff intercepted. I guess I think I could have made a difference. Of course, I'm always looking at the games and putting myself in other peoples shoes -- seeing maybe what I think I could have done in the game."

High School Notes: This Friday, Alief Taylor and Alief Hastings will square off in a game at Crump Stadium that will feature the Texas Hot 100 No. 3- (Vince Oghobaase) and No. 4-rated (Martellus Bennett) prospects.
