Vincent Young. Longhorn!

Vincent Young, the state's top prospect, committed to Texas on his weekend trip to Austin, his mother just confirmed to Inside Texas.

Asked why her son picked the Horns over Miami and others, Felicia Young said, "They wanted him and he bonded with the coaches and the players." She also mentioned academics as another important factor in her son's decision.

It sounded as if the trip to Austin sold the mom as much as the kid on the value of four years on the Forty Acres.

"I'm comfortable with the coaching staff, with the school, with the academics, with the players, with the students," Young's mom told IT. "They have love in their hearts and wanted him to come there. I am serious about academics and I wanted to make sure he gets an education."

Young's mom told IT that Vincent planned to call the coaches of the other schools he considered to tell them of his choice and to cancel his remaining visits.

Young will make a live TV announcement of his decision on Houston's Fox affiliate (channel 26) at 9:00 p.m. this evening, according to his mother.

For Texas, Tim Brewster and Greg Davis were instrumental in landing one of the (if not THE) top prospects in the nation.
