The 5-star tight end from Alief Taylor has already tripped to OU (9/17) and Texas (10/1). With Miami slated for an official visit this weekend (12/18 - -won't head to South Beach until Saturday because of a basketball game Friday night), that leaves just two.
Speaking of the head coach who made an in-home last night, it was Dennis Franchione. However, he was in Martellus' home to bring the paperwork for his brother Michael Bennett to dot the I's and cross the T's on his LOI, which he did, leaving Coach Fran feeling good about his landing his brother and having one more in-home visit in his pocket to use later on Martellus, if they so choose.
As for when OU's Bob Stoops will use his one-and-done in-home, Bennett said, "Coach Stoops might be coming in this Thursday."
Typically, head coaches wait until the last minute, unless of course a kid is close to making his decision. But Bennett said head coaches from the other programs are coming in the month of January. Perhaps the OU head coach will use the in-home ace card sooner, rather later, to see if his Sooners truly have a shot at the 6-6, 240-pound TE.
In-home visits from the assistant coaches thus far has brought in Michael Haywood and Bruce Chambers (Texas), Jackie Shipp and Kevin Sumlin (OU), Melvin Smith (A&M), Mario Cristobal (Miami), Ken Delgado (Cal).
The State's No. 4 is expected to make his decision at the U.S. Army/Scout.com All-American Game.
