David Nelson: UT WR Target to Decide Soon

With the Longhorns determined to bolster their wide receiver corps, Wichita Falls Rider WR David Nelson was the recipient of a scholarship offer from the University of Texas. He visits with Scout.com about that, his official visit agenda and more…

David Nelson told Scout.com he recently added another big offer giving him another option.

"Texas offered (Monday)," Nelson said. "And, I'm the biggest Texas fan in the world. I've been a Texas fan my whole life."

Based on the above comments from the U.S. Army All-American wideout, it would appear that the Horns are in excellent shape. However, they face stiff competition from Florida, Iowa and Notre Dame.

"Notre Dame, and what they stand for, the fact that it's first class there, and I could play early, has me very interested," Nelson said. "Iowa has great coaches, and genuine people, and they have a great recruiting class. I'll know more about Florida when I take my last official visit this weekend (1/21)."

Decision-time frame: "I'll have a decision by the middle of next week."

In-Home Visits: Coach Mack Brown will come in late this week or early next week, Coach Urban Meyer will come in next week, Coach Kirk Ferentz came in Monday and the Iowa coaches will come in next week. Not sure when Coach Charlie Weis will be in, depends on what New England does this weekend against Pittsburgh."
