Recruiting: Is Finley Finally Hooked On Horns?

Jermichael Finley's recruitment has been very interesting to follow over the course of the last several weeks. He was committed to Arizona and then wanted to switch that commitment to Texas. However, Finley's family was adamantly against Jermichael backing out of his pledge to the Wildcats. Last night, though, UT head coach Mack Brown and OL coach Mac McWhorter paid the Finleys an in-home visit.

Mack Brown and Mac McWhorter went into Jermichael Finley's home and walked out with a very firm commitment from not only Finley, but Grandma too, which means everything in the world if you've been following our reports on the 4-star WR/TE's recruitment over the last few weeks...

"He's committed to the University of Texas," Diboll head coach Finis Van Over told "Coach Brown and Coach McWhorter met with him and his family last night. This morning, the Texas coaches called and said (Finley) made a firm commitment and he'll be taking his official visit this weekend after his basketball game Friday night."

"Jermichael's looking forward to being a Longhorn," Van Over continued. "His choices/options were outstanding. And he could not have gone wrong with either Arizona or Texas. At one time he was in love with Arizona. But he's in love with Texas now."

The 6-4, 215-pound two-sport athlete also took the time to speak on the solidity of his commitment.

"I went to the Texas camp over the summer and really liked how the coaches worked the guys," said Finley regarding why he picked the Burnt Orange. "And, really, I've been wanting to go there forever."

Asked what his grandmother had to say on the switch, Finley said, "She said wherever I want to go she'll be right there behind me and that she would be very happy about it. Everybody is cool with it."

The 4-star blue-chipper from Diboll said he also visited with Arizona OL coach Eric Wolford about the final decision to become a Horn.

"I talked to Coach Wolf (Eric Wolford) and told him that I was going to UT."
