Steve Moore: Second OL In The Longhorn Fold

Jersey Village OT prospect Steve Moore is a Texas Top 200 prospect. Heavily wooed in the early going by Arizona, Oklahoma State and Texas, he had a few options to mull over with even more options likely on the way. However, he collected an offer Monday and decided to jump on it.

"I committed to UT (Monday)," Steve Moore (6-4/275/5.3) told us in a Tuesday interview. "I was there Saturday for the Junior Day, talked to all of the coaches there and left with a good feel for them. I wasn't expecting them to offer until spring."

The UT coaches called Jersey Village head coach David Snokhous Monday with news that they would like to offer right away. Moore, surprised by the immediate attention and recognition, called UT OL coach Mac McWhorter.

"Coach McWhorter said they were making me an offer and I committed right then," Moore said. "I'm going to stick to that commitment and now focus on Jersey Village football."

Moore's father attended the Junior Day and was just as excited about the news of his son's commitment to UT as Moore is about being in the Longhorn fold.

Position Projection?

"They didn't go into any details, but I know the offer wasn't to play center. It'll be at either guard or tackle."

Areas to Improve: "Probably my strength. I can still generate a lot of power with my size, but think I can be a lot more powerful than I am right now."

Junior Season Stats: 80 pancakes (about 7 a game), 0 holding penalties, 1-2 false starts.
