Emmanuel Moody Picks Texas

Coppell RB Emmanuel Moody is a Scout.com Texas Top 200 prospect with offers from a cast of schools, including Big 12 programs Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Texas Tech as well as Arkansas, Georgia Tech and LSU. Last night, however, Moody pulled the commitment trigger in favor of Texas.

After checking out one of the UT Junior Days a few weeks back, Coppell RB Emmanuel Moody said he had three schools even, A&M (offer), UT (offer) and USC. But it was the Longhorns garnering the 6-0.5, 200-pound tailback's verbal pledge.

"I called Coach Bobby Kennedy last night and then spoke to Coach Mack Brown. They were excited, glad I made a commitment, and congratulated me."

Moody said he took some time to think about where he really wanted to go, prayed about it and in the end followed his heart, which was wearing the Burnt Orange.

However, he didn't rule out the possibility of taking a trip to USC for the sake of making sure his commitment to the Horns is a sound one.

"USC said they wanted to come down and see me in person in May, and that they would offer then."

And if the Trojans do offer, it'll be interesting to see if the Coppell RB entertains the idea of playing in Cali. But right now, Moody is "set on Texas."

JR Season Stats: 1,390 yards (8.0 ypc), 12 TDs, 100 receiving yards and 2 TDs.

Moody's work ethic in the weight room is definitely worth noting. Competing in power lifting as a freshman and sophomore helped him post some nice numbers in weight training. Currently, he has a 330 bench, 505 squat, 285 power clean and a 550 dead lift.

The DFW-area athlete also competes in track, running the 110m hurdles and the anchor leg on the 4x100 relay.

Academics: 3.2 GPA and scheduled for the SAT in early June.
