Recruiting: Rowlett LB Has An In-State Top Two

Rowlett LB Jared Norton (6-3, 217) hasn’t had an empty mailbox in quite a while as he now holds 11 offers from colleges across the nation.

"I have offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Purdue, Iowa State, Nebraska, Kansas, Mississippi State, Arizona and Arkansas," said LB Jared Norton, a Texas Top 200 prospect. However, there are two schools standing head and shoulders above the others. "It’s a top two. It’s between Texas and Texas A&M."

Norton said he took in the Junior Days at both Texas and Texas A&M.

"Texas A&M’s Junior Day was the first one I went to," he said. "I got to meet and talk to coach Dennis Franchione and coach Stan Eggen. They didn’t offer me at the Junior Day. It was weird how they did it. They met my mom at one of my sisters’ volleyball games and the offer sort of came there."

"The Texas Junior Day was alright," Norton continued. "I met with Mack Brown and defensive coordinator (Gene) Chizik. I liked the atmosphere at Texas. I got to meet all the players and I was invited back into Mack’s office where he offered me."

The 6-3, 217-pounder has a few summer plans. Norton said he’ll attend the spring games and summer camps of both Texas and A&M as well as the TCU Nike Camp. Norton already showed his skills in the U.S. Army All-American combine in San Antonio.

At this point, it doesn’t look like Norton will be making a decision soon. He doesn’t really know when he’ll commit. He said he’ll wait "until he feels that certain something."

Academics: 3.4/3.5 GPA and awaiting the results of his ACT test, though, he is confident his score will be a passing one.
