La Marque Two-Sport ATH Looking In-State

La Marque High School ATH L.J. Castille is looking at a few in-state schools. He took some time to speak to Inside Texas about his college recruitment.

La Marque ATH L.J. Castille could make some noise at the D-I level in football or basketball. In football, he earned Second-Team All-District honors as a junior, and in basketball he was Second Team All-County and All-District, as well as Honorable Mention All-State, and the 6-2, 200-pounder hopes to play both sports at the college level.

The versatile Castille could play a variety of positions at the college level, but he's projected to play either QB or WR. "I'm being recruited to play QB," he said.

Castille is being recruited most by Texas A&M in football and Baylor in basketball, although he has yet to garner any official offers.

"Texas A&M is recruiting me most," he said. "I attended their Spring Game last weekend. When I went down to A&M for the Spring Game, I didn't have much of a chance to talk to the coaching staff. We toured the facilities and then went to the stadium to watch the game." He also attended Houston's Spring Game Saturday, April 16.

Castille is being recruited by A&M Assistant Coach/Wide Receivers Coach Kenith Pope. "Coach Pope is a real straight forward guy and he's a real nice person," he said. "I haven't had much of an opportunity to talk to Coach Franchione, but he runs a great program and seems to be a great guy as well."

Castille said he has had no contact with the Texas Coaching Staff, but he does have interest in Texas. "I'd like to possibly attend one of their camps, but I'm not for sure yet," he said. "I will be attending the Peyton Manning Camp (held in Louisiana), the Nike Camp at TCU, and the Texas A&M Camp this summer."

He benches 315, cleans 310, sports a 36-inch vertical and runs a 4.55 forty. The multi-sport star is currently qualified GPA-wise and will receive his SAT scores on Monday.
