Recruiting: Mike Morgan On Texas, OU and Nebraska

Dallas Skyline LB Mike Morgan is a very versatile athlete who is projected to play LB at the college level, but who is being given a look at DE as well by some schools. He spoke to Inside Texas about three particular schools and how his recruitment is going.

When Mike Morgan last spoke to Inside Texas he had 15 offers. Has he gained any more in the meantime?

"I now am up to 17 offers," Morgan said. "I have been offered by Texas, Texas Tech, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas, Arkansas, Purdue, Arizona, UCLA, Boston College, Indiana, Baylor, Georgia, and LSU. I still have no leader or favorites at this time."

What does Morgan like about Texas? "They have good facilities, good academics, and a great coaching staff. I enjoyed my visit back in April when I had a chance to talk to Coach Chambers, Coach Chizik, and Coach Brown. They are all down to earth and good guys and I received my offer from Texas on that visit as well. Overall, I'd give that visit a 7 out of 10, only because I couldn't stay as long as I hoped due to a track meet."

Oklahoma has been recruiting Morgan pretty hard as well and the Sooners have been known to come down to the Lone Star State and grab some premium talent. "I'm being recruited by WRs Coach (Darrell) Wyatt. I've talked to Coach Wyatt around four or five times and he seems to be a real great guy." Morgan has had the opportunity to talk to Oklahoma Head Coach Bob Stoops as well. "Coach Stoops told me about all of the great traditions at Oklahoma and how he wants me to be a part of it. He told me that the Sooners are going to continue to compete for championships and that he's going to keep them on top." Morgan's offer from OU was one of his first and he was offered by OU through a written letter.

Nebraska has also been known to dip down into Texas and snag a few recruits, and this year seems to be no different as the Huskers are showing interest in Morgan. "I'm being recruited by Coach (Jay) Norvell," he said. "I've only had one opportunity or so to speak to him, but overall he seems to be a good guy. I haven't had a chance to speak to Coach Callahan yet."

What does Morgan like about Nebraska? "Nebraska is really on the rise right now. They struggled last season, but they brought in one of the top recruiting classes and I really like that. It shows that the program will be back on top soon. They will always have a great tradition which I find a plus." Morgan received his offer from Nebraska through a written letter.

When does the talented LB plan on making a decision? "My decision won't be for a while," he said. "I plan on it taking until around Signing Day in February."
