Recruiting: Longhorns Reel In Another Commit

Montgomery HS TE Greg Smith became the 19th commitment to the Texas Recruiting Class of 2006 on Monday. Smith had garnered interest from schools across the country, but hadn't received that UT offer before participating in UT's first mini-camp on Sunday. When the offer came, though, Smith committed. His Mom spoke to Inside Texas about her son's commitment to the Texas program.

Greg Smith, UT's second pledge from a tight end and 19th overall, committed to Texas over the phone. "He called to thank Coach (Oscar) Giles and Coach (Mack) Brown for inviting him and that's when he committed," Smith's mother said Monday evening. "We're all very proud of him."

"The trip went well", Mrs. Smith added. "The whole family went down to Austin and we had a chance to visit the campus and meet the coaching staff."

Before committing to the Horns, the 6-4, 225-pounder had received offers from Duke, Arizona, Mississippi, Missouri, Northwestern, and TCU.

Inside Texas will have more on Greg Smith's commitment soon.
