Shipley was completely sidelined for almost with a hamstring injury suffered during a non-contact passing drill on August 11.
"This is the first time hes ever hurt his hamstring that I know of," Brown said, "and hamstrings are just different. Theyre really hard to predict. I could sit here and say he wouldnt be out there and he may be well tomorrow."
I asked Brown about his standard policy for playing an athlete on Saturday if that particular athlete did not practice at full-speed during the week. (Shipley has suited up but has not yet participated in full-contact drills, according to a source close to the program.)
"What weve got is a policy where if Ricky Williams can play on Saturday, he can play," Brown replied, "but if other guys who havent played very much havent practiced, then its probably not safe to put them out there and its probably not fair to your team. So, we can not make a decision based on what we feel."
