Since he last talked to IT, McElroy has picked up an offer from Houston. "Houston offered me about three weeks ago," he said. His offer list currently stands at Houston, BYU, Kansas, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, UTEP, UNLV, TCU, and North Carolina.
The big-time QB had an excellent game in his first start against Midland Lee. "I was 21-33 for 325 yards and 3 TDs," he said. "I also had 9 carries for 47 yards and a TD." Greg and his Carroll teammates racked up 535 yards of total offense in a 48-25 victory. "We're starting to really gel," he said. "I'm just happy we got the win. That was a big accomplishment for me being that it was my first start. It's not the numbers, it's just making sure you are effective."
This Friday, McElroy and his Carroll teammates will take on rival Coppell HS. Coppell is home to Texas commit Emmanuel Moody. "I'm ready for Friday," McElroy said. Greg knows the biggest key to the upcoming game is stopping the elusive Moody. "We're pretty good at stopping the run," he said. "I know that Emmanuel Moody is a big-time back and we're going to have to gang tackle him and not let him get into the open field."
As for recruiting, McElroy currently is waiting to set up his official visits. "I'm going to narrow down my list in about two weeks," he said. "I'm still hoping that Texas will offer me. They will get a lot of consideration if they offer me."
With Greg's excellent performance last Friday, there's no doubt that more schools will take notice. Alabama and Tennessee have already made it known that they will be in attendance at one of his games this season to see him in action. Following this Friday's game against Coppell, McElroy and his teammates will take on Plano East, whom they defeated 41-21 last season.
