Texas Signs Top 5 Class

Recruiting success laid the foundation for UT's first title team in 35 years, and Mack Brown and Co. landed 25 prospects on Signing Day, a group ranked among the top five classes in the nation, and ready to compete for another championship on the Forty Acres.

Texas corralled the state's top prospect, and the top-ranked linebacker in the nation, in Sergio Kindle. Kindle is enrolled at UT, and will compete for playing time this spring along with all the Horns' other returning LBs. Texas also signed the nation's top-ranked DE, Kilgore's Eddie Jones. There's also highly-ranked ATH Ken Beasley, QB Jevan Snead (like Kindle, already in Austin), OL J'Marcus Webb and a host of others. As usual, the Longhorns will snag more of the top talent in Texas than any other program -- by far! -- with nine of the state's top 20 prospects (Texas A&M, with two top 20 pledges, is the next closest school). And Texas has a whopping six members of Scout's national top 100.

The Horns landed two out of state signees, but the Texas coaches also made a late run at Venice, Calif. S Jonas Mouton. Mouton's announcement between Michigan and Texas came on Signing Day: Jonas Mouton Officially Goes Blue. Mack Brown will officially introduce the class at 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.
