Kainer paces Longhorns' resurgence

Carson Kainer said he is one of those baseball players who's always nicked up. His most recent injury came against Kansas State on Saturday, when the Texas left fielder rolled his ankle while hustling back to first base on a pickoff attempt. But Kainer doesn't let the injuries bother him, especially given the hitting tear he's been on. Last week, Kainer hit .733 (11 for 15) with a homer and nine runs batted in, seven of which came with two outs. The offensive onslaught led to his being named the Big 12 Conference's offensive player of the week for the first time. Full story

Bears get chance to avenge season-ending defeat at Texas' hands

Last season was rough for the Baylor Bears. They seemingly owned the Texas Longhorn baseball team. The Bears swept all three games during the regular season and then knocked off Texas 9-8 in the conference tournament. The Big 12 regular season champion Bears returned to the College World Series in Omaha, Neb., for the first time since 1978, and it looked like 2005 might be the year that Baylor finally captured its first baseball national championship. But after having their number all year, the Bears lost two games to the Longhorns and had to watch from home as their former patsy dispatched Florida for the 2005 National Championship. Full story
