Did you hear about the Aggie baseball team that, for the second straight game, surrendered the go-ahead run by hitting a Longhorn batter with the bases loaded? No joke: it was deja vu all over again Monday for Texas A&M. No. 7 Texas' took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth with another hit batsman, completing the sweep of their in-state rivals with a 6-1 decision at Disch-Falk field. Full story

Their points of origin are widely divergent, but it's all about where these two prominent Texas baseball players hope to wind up. Closer Austin Wood came to Texas as a highly recruited first baseman and hardly threw a pitch in his junior high school season at Kingswood. Middle reliever Randy Boone was one of the Longhorns' top three starters on last year's national championship team until an elbow injury rerouted his career. A season removed from the school's sixth College World Series title, these two have settled into decidedly different roles and now make up one of the best relief tandems in the Big 12. Full story

Legislature agrees on one thing: Longhorns deserve a salute

Members of the Texas Senate don't look star-struck often, but they did Monday afternoon when lining up to meet Longhorn football coach Mack Brown and wide receiver Limas Sweed. The Senate passed a resolution honoring the Longhorns' 2005 national championship, complete with two standing ovations and a lengthy round of handshakes. Full story
