Recruiting: UT on Crowder's short list

HR has been tracking Tyler John Tyler defensive end Tim Crowder for the past month. We finally made contact on Wednesday evening.

"So what's been happening this summer?" Crowder was asked.

"I've attended the summer camps at both Texas and Texas A&M," he said. "I will also be going to the LSU camp on July 21st. I believe it's a full camp, but I be there for that day only."

Two months ago, Tim's questionnaire had him listed at six-foot-four and 220 lbs. Any changes there?

"I'm now 6-4 and 227," he said. "I've been working hard in getting my 40-time down. I was able to run a 4.66 at the Texas camp."

Can you name your current favorites?

"I can," Crowder said. "It would be Texas, Nebraska, LSU and Arkansas. I've pretty much dropped Texas A&M. I have 15 formal offers so far."

Any other plans for the rest of the summer?

"Just to work out every day and get ready for the season," he said. "I'm very excited about passing my test (he made an 18 on the ACT) and keeping my GPA up (3.54). I'm also working at the Hobby Lobby here in Tyler and we're already stocking for Christmas. Man, it's tough (laughing)."

Probably not as tough as Crowder will be on opponents this season.

He is currently ranked 7th overall on the Heartland Recruiting Regional Top 160.
