UT's Rose Bowl finances, fortunes thorny

The University of Texas made only $100,000 from its Rose Bowl victory over Southern California in the Bowl Championship Series national title game. But UT figures to make about eight times that amount this coming season by erecting 3,000 bleacher seats in the south end zone. Full story

UT coordinators Akina, Davis, Chizik get sizeable raises

Winning the national championship has been very profitable for the University of Texas' assistant football coaches. Longhorn offensive coordinator Greg Davis and co-defensive coordinator Gene Chizik are receiving $30,400 raises, bringing their annual salaries to $325,400. The total compensation for the coordinators includes base salary of $260,400; a $15,000 endowment and income from football camps ($20,000); and speaking engagements ($30,000). Full story

Texas-OU doubtful on ABC night schedule

ABC announced that it will be airing college football games every Saturday night this season, but at least one high-profile game won't get the prime-time treatment. Texas-Oklahoma, traditionally an afternoon game at the Cotton Bowl, could be shifted to a 7 p.m. kickoff, according to the network schedule unveiled Tuesday. Oct. 7 has been designated a day when a Big 12, ACC or Big East game could be selected for prime time. But State Fair of Texas president Errol McKoy said he has already discussed this possibility with Oklahoma officials, and it's doubtful the Red River Rivalry would be played at night. Full story

Williams transfer not a done deal

Despite rumors that have surfaced about basketball player Mike Williams' possible transfer from the University of Texas, nothing has officially been done according to one person close to the team. Assistant media relations director Scott McConnell said the Longhorns' staff became aware of rumors that Williams might leave early Sunday night. But nothing has been done to begin a process that would facilitate the departure of the former Wilcox-Central High standout. Full story
