Danks cleared to play for Horns

Freshman outfielder Jordan Danks has been cleared to play in this weekend's NCAA Austin Regional, Texas team trainer Eddie Day said. Danks has missed 21 games since suffering a fractured right ankle during an April 14 game against Baylor. He took batting practice Tuesday and practiced with his teammates as they prepared for Friday's game against UT-Arlington. Full story

Marshevet Hooker's workload at next month's NCAA track and field championships just got a little bit lighter. For a Texas women's team hoping to defend its national outdoor title, that is not good news. Citing the need to shield her athletes from further distraction, UT coach Bev Kearney said she wouldn't file a petition with the NCAA for Hooker to be included in the at-large pool in the 100 and 200 meters at the national meet.
