Texas' Rose Bowl dreams appeared to be on the ropes in Stillwater. On the ropes until Vince Young tight-roped the sideline early in the second half for an 80-yard touchdown run that started the Longhorn avalanche. Young's performance also served notice that the Heisman didn't necessarily belong in its recent home, Southern California.

Navarro coach to join UT staff

Texas baseball coach Augie Garrido has found his new pitching coach. Skip Johnson, the head coach at Navarro College in Corsicana, will join Garrido's staff providing he passes a mandatory UT security and background check, Garrido said.

The eyes of Texas are upon Skip Johnson. Texas' Augie Garrido offered the Navarro head baseball coach a position as the new pitching coach for his program. Johnson, who has tallied over 450 wins at Navarro, met with the Longhorns head baseball coach Sunday and accepted the position around noon Monday.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Negotiations with the Tennessee Titans for their top draft pick, Vince Young, will begin face-to-face Thursday, and his agent said Tuesday he expects the quarterback will be signed in time for the start of training camp.

Vikings sign Griffin to four-year deal

The Vikings crossed another draft choice off their list Tuesday as second-round pick Cedric Griffin signed a four-year contract that reportedly includes $1.62 million in guaranteed money.

Crenshaw signs endorsement deal

Austin golfer Ben Crenshaw signed an endorsement deal with Time Warner Cable, the company said Tuesday. Crenshaw will do print and media ads and corporate outings for the company for three years, promoting its cable, high-speed Internet and phone services.
