Chizik Building the 'Perfect' Defense
You'll have to excuse Texas Co-Defensive Coordinator Gene Chizik for not enjoying his 2006 Rose Bowl DVD as much as, say, 10 million other Longhorn fans have since January 4. Sure, he was pleased with the end result. But the second-year UT assistant knows that even a Top 10 defense on a national championship team can get better. Much better.

Horns WR Shipley, health intact, hopes to have last laugh
Austin American-Statesman
Jordan Shipley has heard them all. Every last joke, which is exactly what he hopes they are. The last joke. Good-natured or not, he's been a running joke instead of a wide receiver who can run as fast as any and catch better than most. Longhorn defense hopes to improve
Daily Texan
Robert Killebrew got his first tackle of the 2006 season durin seven-on-sevens in the second day of practice. The hit came at least a day early, as the players won't be in pads until today and Killebrew was called off the field to sit a few snaps. That play reflected the heightened level of intensity displayed Tuesday at the Longhorns' final open practice until they scrimmage on Aug. 19th for fan appreciation day.
