Chancey Aghayere: 2008 DE Has Early Favorites

Garland defensive end Chancey Aghayere was one of the most dominant sophomore defensive linemen in the state of Texas last year. His impressive play earned him Defensive Sophomore of the Year honors and has several of the top programs throughout the nation interested in his services.

Which schools are interested in Chancey Aghayere?

"Oklahoma, Texas Tech, Texas A&M, Baylor, Wisconsin, Miami, and Florida," Aghayere said.

Aghayere's choices are not limited to the programs listed above. He named his top three schools and talked about what each has to offer.

I like Texas because I'm from Texas," Aghayere said. "Florida's program is good, and Virginia Tech because I've never been there before."

The 6-foot-4, 250 pound Aghayere runs the 40-yard dash in 4.8 seconds. He recorded nine tackles along with 5 sacks as a sophomore at Garland. He has big time potential and should blossom into a great pass rusher over the next few years. His speed and first step make him a threat to pressure the quarterback every time the ball is snapped.

Aghayere would like to take a couple of unofficial visits during the fall to check out the Big 12 atmosphere that schools like Texas and Texas Tech offer.

He talked about the importance of good academics and other key factors that could have an impact upon his final decision.

"The most important thing is academics," Aghayere said. "Then my coaching and playing time."

The Garland Owls defeated the Allen Eagles 38-35 in the Tom Landry Classic at SMU this past weekend. Aghayere recorded three tackles in the game. The Owl's next game will be at Williams Stadium this Friday against DeSoto High School.
