Culpepper's Commentary: Ohio State Game
It's been a fun ride! Since the Texas Tech game in Lubbock in 2004, when Greg Davis finally figured out that Vince Young wasn't Chris Simms, it has been a great run for the Longhorns.

Inside Texas Blog: It Hurts, But...
Losses never feel good, but Inside Texas' Clendon Ross says this one was a bit less painful than so many that preceded it.

Texas looks at itself to see why Ohio State happened
Austin American-Statesman
HOW DO THE LONGHORNS — who won every home game for the past three years, until Saturday — deal with the loss that ended a 21-game winning streak? They turn philosophical.

Longhorns defense had wrong plan for Ohio State
Austin American-Statesman
Gene Chizik is ticked. Really ticked. Smoke-coming-out-the-ears ticked. Ticked at his players. Ticked at himself. Ticked at his game plan. Probably ticked at his pet dog. That's the good news. Then, there's the reason why he's fuming. That news ain't so good.

After serving a week-long suspension, Texas cornerback Tarell Brown and reserve safety Tyrell Gatewood are back with the Longhorns, although it remains unclear how soon it will take Brown to regain his starting spot.

UT's defense grasping for answers
Dallas Morning News
Texas co-defensive coordinator Gene Chizik was asked Monday what he expects from Rice offensive coordinator Major Applewhite at Reliant Stadium during Saturday's game. Chizik tried to make a joke. At least, it sounded like a joke. "Which offense we'll see, I don't know," he said. "I've guessed wrong two straight weeks. I'm not guessing anymore. I'm the worst guesser."

UT's Brown took one on kisser in first half
Dallas Morning News
Mack Brown was cut just above his lip during the first half of the Ohio State game, when a player (Brown wouldn't say if he was in a Texas uniform) ran out of bounds and clipped Brown's face.

Once a UT hero, Rice's Applewhite takes aim at Horns
San Antonio Express-News
The links to the past are physical, not mental. There's a game ball in Major Applewhite's office at the south end of Rice Stadium, with a big white panel embossed with the then-Texas Longhorns graduate assistant's name and the result of the 2005 Rose Bowl. Near it is a team photo from that season, his last of eight as a Longhorns player or coach. "The rest," Applewhite said, "is Rice stuff."

Now UT's goal is to forget Ohio State
San Antonio Express-News
Texas running back Selvin Young strolled into Monday's meet-and-greet with the media wearing a big, silver question mark on a chain around his neck. He swore it bore no ulterior significance.

Longhorns chart change
Houston Chronicle
Before playing top-ranked Ohio State, Texas coach Mack Brown warned the Longhorns would trail in the game. He just didn't expect it would be for almost the entire game.

Longhorns turn backs on defeat
Daily Texan
Texas wide receiver Limas Sweed has gotten pretty used to going to class on Monday following a Texas win on Saturday. Fellow students, and even the professors, ask questions and talk about the game. It had been almost a year-and-a-half since he had to walk into class with a Longhorn loss still in the air. Sweed said his classmates weren't as inquisitive about the game as usual.

Ohio State stuns Texas at home
Daily Texan
Texas running backs Selvin Young and Jamaal Charles found themselves as the only threats in a one-dimensional offense Saturday night against Ohio State. Both ran with toughness and right up till the final play in a 24-7 loss at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Former Longhorns greeted warmly in Arkansas
Associated Press
Maybe time really does heal all wounds. James Street and Bob McKay — key players on the Texas team that edged Arkansas in the 1969 "Big Shootout" — were greeted pleasantly at the Little Rock Touchdown Club on Monday, where they joined former Razorback Bruce James for a look back at that famous game.

Street Glad He Listened
Northwest Arkansas Morning News
Traveling south on U.S. 71 from Rogers to Fayetteville, Darrell Royal called quarterback James Street to the front of the bus and told him to sit. Such an invitation was a first. The Texas coach said that if the Longhorns went for two that afternoon in Fayetteville, it was going to be outside with the option. Anticipating Arkansas' every-play banging of Steve Worster, he made Street's first read for him -- do not give it to the fullback. "You need to keep it or pitch it," Royal said. "You got it?"
