Texas Offense: Got Some I.D.?
The Ohio State game loomed as a symbolic target that would, ideally, lend clarity to Texas' sense of offensive identity in the post-Vince Young era. So, what does Coordinator Greg Davis know now about the direction of the offense that he didn't know at the start of the season?

Major Applewhite sat in a Philadelphia Marriott hotel for an hour, deep in a phone conversation with his mentor. The issue at hand was whether he should leave his job as quarterbacks coach at Syracuse to take a job at Rice, a struggling program in transition. Texas offensive coordinator Greg Davis listened patiently, threw in a couple of his homespun analogies and encouraged his former star quarterback to follow his heart. Do what's best for you and your wife, Julie, he said.

Texas' loss to the Buckeyes lent him the perfect opportunity to place the blame on someone else. That thought, however, never crossed his mind.
