Pflugerville Corner Dominates Secondary

Pflugerville High School has always been a recruiting hot spot in the state of Texas. College coaching staffs know that there will be at least one Division I caliber player on their roster every year. For the class of 2008, that kid is Zaviar Gooden. Head Coach George Hermann talked about Gooden's athleticism and presence the secondary.

"He plays both running back and corner back," Hermann said. "He's got good vision as a running back and he is a good cover corner. It is tough to find tall guys that can cover well."

The 6-foot-1, 190 pound Zaviar Gooden runs the 40-yard dash in a blazing 4.4 seconds. He will probably play corner on the next level.

Gooden is already hearing from several Division I programs including Baylor and Iowa. He should make a big splash on the college football recruiting landscape next year.
