Mesquite Juniors on the Rise

The Mesquite Skeeters have several young prospects on their roster. Each of these guys brings tremendous speed and athleticism to the football field. Head Coach Steve Halpin commented on the play of his junior prospects.

Kelly Page has been starting at quarterback for the Skeeters the past two seasons. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound dual-threat quarterback is putting together a great season thus far. He has 346 yards rushing with six touchdowns combined with 752 passing yards with eight touchdowns. Page runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds.

"He is a two year starter as a junior," Halpin said. "He is very athletic. He runs and throws the ball well. He also makes good decisions."

Marquis Wadley plays inside linebacker at Mesquite High School. The 5-foot-8, 200-pound Wadley runs the 40-yard dash in 4.6 seconds.

"He is very quick. He has good speed and is a strong kid. He is a good tackler," Halpin said.

Adrian Richards is the type of receiver that a lot of schools are looking for. He has good size and speed on top of it. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Richards runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds.

"He is tall and athletic," Halpin said. "He has made plays for us all year."

Richards has caught 22 passes for 261 yards with four touchdowns in five games this season. Mesquite High School is 4-1 this year thanks in large part to the play of these juniors.
