Justin Johnson: Impressed by Texas-OU Game

Justin Johnson attended the Red River Shootout this past weekend. He had a great time in Dallas and was fascinated by the magnitude of the rivalry between Texas and Oklahoma. Johnson has already picked up nine scholarship offers from schools all over the nation.

"We were one of the first ones to get seated," Justin Johnson said. "It was amazing. Coach Traylor, my high school coach, mentioned how the stadium was filling up with burnt orange on one side and crimson on the other. It was amazing. It was exciting. It was probably the loudest game that I have ever been to."

Johnson got to talk with a handful of junior prospects including possibly the best that the state of Oklahoma has to offer.

"I got to talk to Jameel Owens. We got to talk a lot. I have heard a lot about him," Johnson said.

Johnson also got to talk with Keon Furtch and Stephen Good from Paris High School.

This was the second big Texas game that Johnson has attended this year. He was also in Austin for the Ohio State game. He didn't get a chance to speak with any of the coaches or players but gave them a friendly gesture during warm-ups.

"I waved at them when they were warming up," Johnson said. "But that was about it."

Johnson has been picking up scholarship offers left and right as of late. Halfway through his junior season, the number is already up to nine.

"I haven't received one from Texas yet, but I have offers from Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, Kansas State, Georgia, Florida, Kansas and Baylor," Johnson stated.

Gilmer High School has started the season undefeated through five games. They are picking up where they left off last year when they won the 3A State Championship. Johnson and current Texas commit, Curtis Brown, lead a tremendously talented group of kids.
