Baylor Preview: Are These Bears Bad News?
InsideTexas.com
Texas' win over Oklahoma was the result of one of the most bare-knuckled, knock down - drag out tilts in series history. Now comes the hard part.

The Inside Texas Podcast

We review the Oklahoma game and have a look at the Baylor Bears on this week's episode of the Podcast.

Ross could be next superstar in secondary
Austin American-Statesman
Off the field, Aaron Ross always looks polished and pulled together. The Texas cornerback wears his hair short and well-trimmed. He chooses among his dozens of shoes to match his brightly colored shirts. It's no wonder teammates have voted this clothes horse the best dressed among them. Ross' best accessory, though, is his serene smile and humble, self-deprecating personality. It translates well onto the practice field and on Saturday afternoons. And, perhaps most importantly, it allowed him to persevere during a two-year hiatus between high school and college, until the NCAA eventually allowed him to play football again.

Too many quarterbacks of the future?
Austin American-Statesman
As of this minute, John Brantley is still coming to Texas. As for tomorrow . . . "He's planning on being in Austin, Texas, sometime in July," John Brantley Sr. said of his son Thursday. "That's our plans right now. We feel committed to Texas." And Texas to him.

Dallas Morning News
Coach Mack Brown said 23-year-old sophomore receiver Quan Cosby has brought much more to the Longhorns than his 12 receptions and 129 yards this season.

Aaron Ross the man to watch
San Antonio Express-News
Keep an eye on Michael Griffin. That's what the folks at Texas told us, way back in August. Griffin, UT's senior safety, was the budding All-American. He was a frontrunner for the Thorpe Award, given annually to the nation's top defensive back. Heck, the spin went, he probably should have won it last year over teammate Michael Huff. So we watched. We watched carefully. Turns out, we were duped. We've been watching the wrong guy.

Unbelievably, Bears believe
Fort Worth Star-Telegram
Baylor cornerback C.J. Wilson can already see it. Sports Illustrated will visit Austin next week. So will Dr. Phil. Both will try to answer the same question: How did Baylor beat the Longhorns?

Violation of team rules sidelines Baylor's Parks
Houston Chronicle
Baylor wide receiver Terrance Parks was suspended from the team indefinitely Thursday for a violation of team rules, coach Guy Morriss said.

Late-starting Cosby Show a hit in Austin
Waco Tribune-Herald
Nobody has ever had to tell Quan Cosby to stay off Sixth Street on a school night. Cosby wasn't the usual restless Texas freshman living away from home for the first time last season. After four years of minor league baseball, he didn't feel like he had to pack 10 years of living into one semester..

Mosley's last laugh
Waco Tribune-Herald
Like they possess some kind of mystical power, the minute Paul Mosley dons his shoulder pads and helmet, all the troubles of the day are gone. And there's the smile, stretching from ear to ear and lighting up the room like a Roman candle.

Defending National Champs: Loaded on Offense
InsideTexas.com
Southlake Carroll High School has arguably the best high school football program in the nation. They won the National Championship last season with a blend of superior talent and excellent coaching. Needless to say, Southlake Carroll has become a hot spot for college football recruiters over the past couple of years.
