Pflugerville (Texas) always produces Division I talent, and this year's junior class is no exception. There are two extremely talented defensive backs in the Pflugerville area. Zaviar Gooden and Darius Darks should both make a big splash in the recruiting pool in 2008. Pflugerville Connally Head Coach Matt Monzingo talked what Darks brings to the football field.
"Darius plays quarterback and free safety. He has been injured this year. He has a hand injury so he has had to sit out a couple of games at quarterback," Monzingo said. "He is an outstanding kid. He has good grades. He also plays basketball. More than likely, he will play safety or wide receiver in college. He is just an all around athlete."
The 6-foot-1, 170-pound Darius Darks runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds. He is already hearing from a variety of Division I schools.
"Texas Tech has sent a lot of mail," Monzingo said. "Nebraska and Missouri has. Those are the correspondents that are coming through here."
Darks was very busy during the summer. He attended football camp at one of the schools in Texas and played AAU basketball.
"I think he went to the Houston camp," Monzingo said. "He is big into AAU basketball in the summer, so I do not know if he went to any more."
