Lester Ward has been hearing from a number of schools through the mail and has already received his first offer from the school that his Dad, Lester Ward Sr., played for.
"I have one offer and that is from Baylor," Ward said. "I have been getting letters from schools all over the nation. I have gotten letters from Notre Dame, South Carolina, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma University, Missouri, Boston College and so on and so on."
The 6-foot-3, 193-pound Ward is an extremely talented athlete. He plays running back at Brenham, but he also has the hands to play wide receiver. He didn't get a chance to make it to any football camps this past summer, but he plans on going to several next summer.
"I didn't get a chance to make it to any. I run on the AAU summer track group at different track meets," Ward said.
"This coming up year, I know I will be. I know I am going to hit up a Baylor one, an Oklahoma State one and a UT one. If Notre Dame has one, I would like to check it out," Ward said.
Ward was injured for most of his sophomore campaign. He did receive academic all-district honors despite the injury.
"I got academic all-district," Ward said. "I was injured during the beginning or middle of the season and there were two or three seniors ahead of me. I didn't get the chance to play off an injury."
Ward is a very humble kid and is very team oriented. He has been a major part of Brenham's success this year. The Cubs are currently 7-1. Ward has rushed for 645 yards with 7 touchdowns but isn't interested in individual stats.
"When you are a team oriented player, you don't really look at those things (stats), but they are pretty good," Ward said.
