Rider High School in Wichita Falls (Texas) is home to an extremely athletic junior wide receiver. Markell Martin plays both ways at Rider and many college coaching staffs are raving about his ability on the football field. Head Coach Scott Ponder talked about his star athlete.
"He plays safety for us on defense and plays some wide receiver on offense. He has good speed and is very rangey. He can cover a lot of ground on defense. He does a good job in the classroom and is very dependable," Ponder said.
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Markell Martin uses his blazing speed to shut down the opposition. He has the ability to play on either side of the ball on the next level. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds. He is already hearing from a ton of schools early in the recruiting process.
"He is getting a lot of mail right now. He is getting a lot of interest from different schools," Ponder said.
