First Look at Devin Thomas

Madison High School in San Antonio is home to one of the most impressive running backs in the state of Texas. Devin Thomas put up some outstanding numbers during his junior season. Head Coach Jim Streety raved about his star prospect from the class of 2008.

"He rushed for 1891 yards in nine games this year. He was injured for our first game. He scored 23 touchdowns," Streety said. "The first thing is he has really good speed. He is a strong runner and breaks tackles. He is also a great blocker and has really good feet."

The thing that sets Devin Thomas apart from the competition is his blazing speed. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds and runs track at Madison as well.

"He was at the state track meet for relay and long jump as a sophomore," Streety said.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound Thomas is already getting letters from a lot of schools including the Texas Longhorns.

"His name is out there and he is getting a ton of mail," Streety said.

Thomas has set up an unofficial visit to watch the annual rivalry game between the Texas Longhorns and the Texas A&M Aggies in Austin in a couple of weeks.

"He is going to the Texas and Texas A&M game the week after next" Streety said.

Other than football, Thomas also excels in the classroom. He has a 3.6 GPA and will be a part of the National Honor Society.

Many people think that Thomas will be this year's version of Bradley Stephens. He may get overlooked because he doesn't play in Houston or in the Metroplex, but he is an outstanding football player.
