Kendall Wright: Everyone is Interested

Kendall Wright does it all at Pittsburg High School in Texas. He plays both ways and is a great all-around athlete. Wright has been hearing from a long list of Division I schools over the past couple of months. Head Coach Lawrence Cleveland talked about his versatility on the football field.

"Well, he runs the ball well. He is our quarterback and plays some wide receiver. He is our cornerback on defense. He also kicks extra points for us," Cleveland said. "He does everything well. He can run, catch and play defense. He is a tremendous little athlete."

The 5-foot-11, 165-pound Wright may not have the size to play quarterback or even receiver on the next level. However, many schools think he would make a great cover corner. He definitely has the speed to play the position. He runs the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds.

Coach Cleveland ran down a very long list of teams that are sending Wright mail on a regular basis.

"Oklahoma, Texas, LSU, Purdue, Notre Dame, Army, North Carolina, Arizona, Arizona State, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Kansas State, Kansas, Duke and Georgia Tech," Cleveland said. "He is getting mail from everywhere. As a matter of fact, he got one from the University of Florida too."

Wright was supposed to be in Austin for a game earlier this year, but something came up at the last minute. He is planing on visiting another Big 12 school this weekend though.

"He was supposed to go to the University of Texas earlier this year, but he couldn't make it. I think he is going to Oklahoma this weekend," Cleveland said.
